Pitt Meadows is home to YPK, the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport located in the southern portion of the community, along the Fraser River on 642 acres of land. It is the third largest airport in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and has the only fully functional seaplane base between Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. The airport has three runways and can accommodate a variety of aircraft movements for business, commuter and personal travel. The longest runway is 4,692 feet in length, with a full instrument approach. There are discussions to expand this runway to 5,000 feet and there is sufficient clear zone to bring the runway to 5,800 feet.
The airport currently offers commuter service to both Nanaimo and Victoria on Vancouver Island with Island Express Air based in Abbotsford.
The Pitt Meadows Airport is emerging as a new commercial hub for the aerospace industry. The airport has 300 acres of land available to support aviation business development, so whether you are looking to work on aircraft or manufacture aircraft Pitt Meadows is the right fit for your aviation business.
