Thank you for visiting our website. The city of Pitt Meadows offers so many of the qualities that entrepreneurs look for when setting up their business. The PMEDC is here to help you with any questions that you may have and to put you in touch with the local business community. We look forward to meeting you soon, but until then, we’ve included some community highlights below to help make your investment decision easy.
If you love the amenities the city has to offer and the lifestyle and outdoor spaces the suburbs can provide, Pitt Meadows is the location for you. With a West Coast Express station located in the community, you can be downtown for business meetings before you know it. Or if you happen to be working from home and need to recharge your creativity, a couple of steps outside your door will connect you to kilometres of dykes for walking, biking or running.
Talent and Access to Creativity and Innovation
Our strategic location at the centre of the Lower Mainland means that we’re surrounded by the urban amenities and population of the Lower Mainland. Within a 30 minute commute there is an available labour force of approximately 600,000 people.
Within 20-60 minutes of our community, you will find three of the largest post-secondary institutions and research centres in British Columbia including the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the University of British Columbia (UBC). There are also approximately 10 colleges and universities within a short distance. Access to centres of creativity and innovation are just a short trek away.
Although our region does not have an incubator program (a.k.a. accelerator space) at this time, the PMEDC is interested in looking into an incubator program to help accelerate business if there is public demand. Please let us know if you are interested in having incubator space in Pitt Meadows.
Quality of Life
With a temperate climate, affordable housing and an abundance of green space, Pitt Meadows is the perfect location for those looking for a unique blend of big-city opportunities with a community based lifestyle. You can be in downtown Vancouver in 45 minutes and at the lake or on the trails in five to 15 minutes depending on where you live or work.
